Tombarello allegedly drove north onto I-93 and once he crossed the New Hampshire state line, New Hampshire State Police took over the pursuit, according to a report. Salem NH Police joined in the pursuit after Tombarello exited I-93 in that community. In Salem, he allegedly crashed into a Salem Police cruiser with intent, allegedly in order to further evade police, according to the report.
Tombarello allegedly continued driving to Route 97 and drove back into Massachusetts. He reportedly continued into Methuen, then into Haverhill, and then allegedly struck a NHSP cruiser at a high rate of speed, stopping the vehicle.
Both Tombarello and Johnson allegedly fled on food and Methuen, Salem, and NSHP officers were able to arrest them both a short distance from the crash.
"I'd like to thank both the Salem Police Department and New Hampshire State Police for their assistance in today's pursuit," said Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon in a statement. "I am proud of how professionally our officers acted while facing such a complex situation."
Salem Police noted on Facebook that the vehicle was on its rims at the end of the pursuit. The department will be issuing its own charges after the drivers soon. There were also no injuries, according to the post.
