The petition, which has over 1,200 signatures as of Thursday afternoon, calls for a traffic light to prevent future crashes in the same spot. Currently there are two stop signs at the intersection for traffic on Sharpners Pond Road.

"This intersection is waiting for another incident like this to occur," petition-writer Isaac Ramos wrote. "A grandchild, sister, husband and son/daughter now have to live without their loved one for the rest of their lives; I cannot imagine the pain this family is enduring at the moment."

"Two years ago, I myself got into a car accident at another dangerous intersection in this town," Ramos, a town resident, wrote.

Armstrong's son Keith and and daughter Heather signed the petition and thanked Ramos for creating it.

"The woman killed on July 27th is my Mom," Keith Armstrong wrote. "She was a beloved Mom, grandma and great grandma. My dad is simply devastated; she was his entire world."

"This hits close to home as it was my amazing mom who was the victim of this horrific and senseless crash," Heather Armstrong wrote. "She was our world and the glue of our family. The reckless driver stole her from us, leaving our family at a complete loss for the rest of our lives. That hole in our hearts will be forever. This intersection is clearly a traffic hazard with an essentially useless stop sign."
