The following was submitted by Kate Rozzi of the Thomson School PTO.

As part of North Andover’s 10th Annual Town-Wide Earth Day Clean Up, students at the participated in a clean up of the school grounds on Saturday. The clean up was organized by the PTO and organizers said that it was a perfect way for the students to help keep their “little corner of the earth clean and green.”

Students and their families brought rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrows while the Department of Public Works provided bags and gloves for the volunteers. Everyone did an excellent job picking up litter, raking, pulling weeds and spreading mulch around the school grounds. Mulch was generously donated by Peter Breen.

Fourth grader Anna Rozzi teamed up with her friends Caroline Pace and Emma Gordon to weed and spread mulch. “I came because I knew it was a chance to help the Earth but I also had a fun time working with my friends,” she said.

Also pitching in was Principal Gregg Gilligan and his family. ”This is just one example of the pride the Thomson Tigers have for our school,” said Gilligan. “As always, I am impressed and proud of the Thomson School community.”
