Top 10 Athletes of the Spring

Patch counts down the top 10 Scarlet Knights of the spring season.

This week’s Athlete of the Week column features the top 10 athletes from the spring season. Click on each player’s name to a watch a video feature.

10. - Baseball

Walsh and the Knights brought home a sectional championship for North Andover on the baseball diamond this year. The NAHS quarterback is the baseball team’s catcher and top right handed starting pitcher.

“He’s so competitive but he’s starting to learn how to control it,” said his coach Todd Dulin. Walsh still has his senior year ahead of him to excel on both the football field and baseball diamond.

The softball co-captain was a main offensive force for the Knights this year. “She's a top quality captain,” said her coach Brian Martin.

Voseolas will have an even greater leadership role next year s one of the team’s seniors.

8. – Track and Field

For an athlete who never intended to be a track star, Riedel has made quite a name for himself as an athlete for Steve Nugent’s team.

Riedel has a natural triple jump, and is expected to be a top competitor for the Knights again next year.

7. - Lacrosse

When he’s not skating circles around players for the Knights’ hockey team, Guerrera straps on the cleats for the Knights’ lacrosse team.

After recovering from a broken wrist last year, Guerrera had a strong season for the Knights who won a road playoff game against Falmouth.

6. - Softball

This senior co-captain spent all four of her years in North Andover playing varsity. She started playing softball in third grade.

In the fall, Weir plans to continue playing softball when she attends Mass. Maritime Academy.

5. – Track and Field

“Footey” had an incredible season with the spring track team. Her best event is the 400 hurdles. She loves competitive sports as does her whole family including twin brother David on the NAHS baseball team.

Foote also plays field hockey in the spring and basketball in the winter.

4. – Tennis

Muller picked up a tennis racket at age six and hasn’t looked back. She was the team’s number one singles player this spring.

The Knights made an appearance in the MIAA Division 2 North tournament but bowed out in the first round.

3. – Tennis

Terranova was the number one singles player for a Knights’ squad that had their best season since 2005.

The Knights fell in the MIAA Division 2 North championship against Winchester.

2. – Lacrosse

Zahoruiko dominates all thee sports she plays, basketball soccer, and lacrosse. She was also the recipient of a .

Zahoruiko was a top defender for the lacrosse team this spring which had a phenomenal regular season.

1. – Baseball

Weisman was one of the biggest reasons why the Knights were able to win a sectional championship this spring.

The hard throwing lefty racked up the wins during North Andover’s 23 game winning streak. Weisman is bound for Columbia University this fall where opposing batters will fear his every pitch. Weisman currently pitches for the .
