Veracity Falls Short in Georgetown

The U14 boys soccer team lost over the weekend but is on its way up.

The following was submitted by the North Andover Soccer Association.

The U14 boys North Andover Veracity played Georgetown on Saturday October 1 in a game that for North Andover was about improvements. They lost, 5-0, but are slowly but surely improving and with no shortage of effort by the Veracity players they may find opposing teams a little bit easier at the Columbus Day Tournament next weekend and then easier still each remaining week of the fall season.

The game saw the possession center of mass move steadily across the field, starting from the North Andover defensive third at the beginning of the game and reaching, by the end of the game, their offensive third.

North Andover forwards Michael Polignone, Andrue Crowley, Gary Baginski and Cole Julius and striker Nathan Willis were clearly determined to score and set up numerous situations especially near the end of the game that were frustratingly close to realizing a goal.

The coaches were happy to note better attacking shape and more passes for possession within the team led by midfielders Chris Gorman, Kyle King, Sean Swanton, Sean Steinberg, Ryan LaPointe and Ruairi Ocearuil, with no shortage of contributions by stopper Brooks Robinson, who played with no sub until the last few minutes.

The coaches were also happy to note significantly better first defenders in this game and better positioning by backs Eddie Twiss, Eddie Allen, Ben Robertson and Shane Howard. Keeper Devin Finnegan, with his first time in goal this season, had a performance that shot up from good to great in this game.
