North Andover East fell 1-0 against Andover National yesterday at Carl Thomas Field.
North Andover starter Mitch McQuate had a strong start giving up only the single run. McQuate pitched four strong innings and gave North Andover a chance to win.
McQuate’s only mistake came in the top of the third inning.

Andover’s catcher Nate Abbott socked a solo home run to left center field that gave Andover National the only run of the game.
North Andover’s offense struggled against Andover’s starter Andrew Selima who pitched a complete game shutout. Selima’s endurance and Andover National’s solid defense spelled a tough day at the plate for North Andover’s batters.

Despite the loss, North Andover East is still alive in the District 14 12-year-old pool.
North Andover East will return to the diamond tomorrow evening at 5:30 p.m. The boys will travel to Billerica, and they’ll need to come home with a win to stay alive in the tournament.
