LAWRENCE, MA — A Lawrence resident was arrested Tuesday and charged with illegal possession of an electronic stun gun, the MBTA Transit Police said Thursday. Police say Danae Perez, 20, of Lawrence, drew her stun gun and threatened to tase a man if he coughed. Perez told police that the victim told her he had the new coronavirus.

The victim "threatened to cough on her," Perez told police.

The incident occurred at the MBTA's Ashmont Station, around 4 p.m. Tuesday. The victim approached a transit police officer and pointed out Perez, who he said threatened him with a stun gun. The officer chased down Perez and took a "Vipertek" stun gun from her. Perez told the officer that she and the victim had an argument, according to the police news release.
