August, 2019- On Saturday, August 17, The sweet smell of barbeque will mingle with the refrain of Be Bop and Doo Wop music of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s when the North Andover Senior Center presents an amazing afternoon of memories, music, and friendship at its Cultural Saturday Social.

The event which begins at 1:00 p.m. will feature a classic barbeque lunch menu with a full afternoon of entertainment with “Howie And The Memory Laners.”
The trio is widely known in the region for its faithful recreation of the hit tunes of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Attendees will be able to sing and dance to such memorable hits as “Wimoweh, The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” “The Wanderer,” “Under The Boardwalk.” “The Wonder Of You,” “My Girl,” and dozens of other songs whose lyrics will immediately spring back to mind.

“All of our programs are aimed at giving our seniors a great range of activities and enrichment opportunities,” said Lya Morse, North Andover Senior Center Program Coordinator. “ But this one is just for the pure fun of it,” she added.

Tickets are reasonably priced at $10.00 and include the barbeque, soft drinks, and the entertainment. The program will conclude at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale at the North Andover Senior Center, 120 Rear Main Street, North Andover.

As with many of the Senior Center Programs, local organizations proudly support the organization. Support for “A Cultural Saturday Social” is provided by the North Andover Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

“Eating, singing, clapping, dancing…..it’s a great recipe for an unforgettable afternoon," said Irene O’Brien, Director of Elder Services. “We expect to see a great turnout of seniors."
