7 Escape Unharmed in Shrewsbury Fire
A family of seven escaped a fire that started from clothing that ignited from a lamp. Northborough firefighters assisted.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A family of seven is displaced after firefighters responded on Sunday to a blaze that shot from a room in a Shrewsbury home, escaping from the home before the fire departments arrived.
Companies from Shrewsbury and Northborough fire arrived on the scene at 28 Shady Lane to a fire around 11:21 a.m.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.

l. First arriving Firefighters were able to deploy a hose line and quickly bring the fire under control and keep the majority of the damages to the fire room itself. Damage caused to the structure and its contents is approximately seventy five thousand. Shrewsbury Fire was assisted by Northborough Fire at the scene. The fire has been determined to be accidental in nature. There were no reported injuries to residents or firefighters.
According to the American Red Cross,crews were sent to assist a family of two adults and five children.

The family was alerted by a smoke alarm in the three-bedroom Cape owned by Stephen and Kate Mack, reports the Telegram and Gazette. The fire reportedly started in an upstairs bedroom, and was contained mostly to the bedroom where it started by a piece of clothing that was placed on a lamp.
Shrewsbury fire reports that the damage is in the vicinity of $75,000, and "accidental in nature."
