Algonquin Still Giving Back

The student organization helped out neighbors again this weekend.

On Saturday, a small group of volunteers, led by Dana Grecco from Algonquin Regional High School, headed to 30 Alcott Drive in Northborough.

The Moore family needed help with post-storm clean up, and the group, known as Algonquin Gives Back, was there to help. The organization is made up of students from Algonquin Regional High School and give an extra set of hands to people who have various challenges in the community.

"They set to task dragging out fallen limbs from the stream bed," said Cynthia Moore,"clearing brush that was clogging the flow and even took a few minutes to take down a few of the damaged limbs and small trees to prevent further problems. After a long hard day of physical work, the team even loaded up their trucks and delivered everything to the dump.

Grecco has commented that flyers are up all around town about Algonquin Gives Back, but she has gotten "very few calls. I think people are shy to ask for help. We want to help."

Moore added, "What a godsend! As a disabled person, and single parent of a disabled child, I didn't know how we were ever going to be able to clear the stream ourselves. We will be forever grateful. What a great group of kids."
