NORTHBOROUGH, MA — Northborough welcomed its newest firefighters this week.
Two new Northborough firefighters, Zach Ashman and Drew Gage, were sworn in on Monday before the community, the fire department announced. Town Clerk Daymian Bartek conducted the swearing-in during a Select Board meeting.
The ceremony officially welcomed Ashman and Gage as the department's newest firefighters. Town officials, colleagues and family members attended the event.
"Surrounded by the solidarity and support of their fellow brother and sister firefighters," the fire department wrote in its announcement. "Becoming a firefighter is more than starting a new job — it's joining a family, embracing a commitment to serve, and becoming part of something bigger than yourself."
Ashman attended the ceremony with his wife, Rebecca, and their baby daughter, Audrey. Gage was joined by his wife, Alyssa, and his parents, Diane and Chris.
Fellow Northborough firefighters also attended the ceremony in support of the new members.
"Please join us in congratulating Zach and Drew as they begin this exciting new chapter with the Northborough Fire Department," the department wrote. "We're proud to have you both on the team and look forward to the great things ahead."
