Are you a Captain?

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem – 1 21 2015

We have good days, and we have not so good days. Either way our days turn out, any gain we can reap will depend on how we take control of what comes our way.

Like a ship in the water, it faces many different types of waves and in time, a captain will learn how to maneuver through the different waves and pull through to get to port safely. We can do the same when it comes to the different pressures we may face each day.

Borrowing a line from “Matlock” (a TV series shown in the early 1990’s), there is truth in what Ben Matlock says. “Mother always used to say…Ain’t nothing ever easy!” And, I will agree there is nothing in life that is easy. But we can make the situations we face smoother sailing when we take control of how we are going to handle our rough seas.

Whether we plan for or even if we were to sit down and think for a minute or two when a stormy situation arises, we will be more apt to take control as if we were “weathered captains” of our shipping vessels. Glean from lessons learned while weathering our life experiences will help us know what we will need to do to get through the day with less stress. When we have our journeys and travel routes logged and written down, we will then be able to know if we have what it takes to help someone else. Do we have the strength to tow them or will a life preserver be enough when they are sailing rough seas of their own?

What about you? Are one who will weather the storms of life and would you be strong enough to tow others and keep them from sinking? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Are You A Captain?

A captain never gives up his ship,

But stays at the helm despite turbulent bounces and dips,

And he endures whatever comes his way,

Until he get where he wanted to go and he has anchored his ship in the bay.

Ocean waters can be rough,

And getting through them can be tough.

But a captain never gives up doing what he has to do,

He does what he must to get his ship through.

Our lives can be like the waters of the seas,

As we maneuver through the different waves to become who we were meant to be.

But no matter how high the waves get or how bad they toss us around,

We maintain our direction, keeping our ship moving and don’t let the storm winds take us down.

How we succeed on our trip in life will depend much on how we handle the sails.

And when we spring a leak in the boat, we confidently know how to use the buckets and pails.

If there should be a disaster and we will need to abandon the ship,

We will have on our life jackets and have a row boat secure us through the rest of our trip.
