Boys LAX Qualifies for Tournament Berth

The Algonquin boys lacrosse team qualifies with seven games left in the season.

Algonquin's boys lacrosse team is now 10-3 (8-0 Mid-Wach-A) and has qualified for a tournament berth with seven games left in the season.

The boys continue to work hard and are focused on achieving the goals they have set for themselves for the season," said coach Rich Luongo. "We are deep in our conference run and have posted some very strong wins against North Middlesex (10-3), Groton-Dunstable (16-6), Wachusett (12-3), Wachusett again (13-6) and Nashoba (7-6)."

Zack Tarallo (Sr Attack) and Conor Healey (Jr Attack) lead the team in scoring and provide strong combined play and great teamwork on the field.  Davis Kraft (So), Mike Leone (Sr), David McGovern (Jr) and Billy Hegarty (Captain) "are work horses in the midfield for us."

"Defensively," continued Luongo, "we are getting solid play and leadership from Nick Mazzola (Captain) and Patrick Murphy (Jr). Mike Fucci (sr) is one of the best short stick midfielders in C-Mass this year unfortunately he sustained a season ending injury and will be sorely missed.  Others will need to step up their game to fill the defensive void in our program. Kyle Stewart (Sr) and Gile Ober (So) are playing outstanding in goal and push each other each day in practice.  It is a great relationship."
