UPDATE: Police on Manhunt for Suspect Who Reportedly Fled With Knife

This is why helicopters were over the neighborhood. Extra patrols were on duty through Thursday evening and the hunt continues.

Updated: 10:45 a.m., Friday: There is still no word of a capture of the suspect. Police are continuing the investigation.

Updated, 12:20 a.m., Friday: Lt. Bill Lyver of Northborough police said that around 10:30 p.m., investigators had reason to believe that the suspect was no longer in the area of pursuit. The suspect’s identity is known to law enforcement and the investigation will continue. Residents, he said, should still be cautious and report any suspicious activities and concerns. Extra patrols will be on duty in the northwest section of town throughout the night as a precautionary measure.

Original Post: Residents on the north side of Northborough were alerted on Thursday evening around 8:45 p.m. about a suspect who eluded Marlborough and Hudson police earlier in the day.

According to Northborough police, around 5:45 p.m., both Hudson and Marlborough police pursued a car onto 1-290, with the car ultimately crashing on 290 at Church Street. The two occupants in the car took off on foot, with one apprehended immediately.

The other then fled on foot and still believed to be on the north side of the town.

Patch readers emailed Patch saying that cruisers were searching the Ball Street area at one point, and helicopters could be heard over the neighborhood. Other departments, including Shrewsbury, assisted Northborough.

Helicopters, cruisers and K9 units from Marlborough were still searching the area at 10:30 p.m.

The man is said to be about 5’7”, 200 pounds and has a shaved head.
