Northborough Animal Hospital Begins New Chapter In Leadership

NORTHBOROUGH, MA — An animal hospital in Northborough is beginning a new chapter in its leadership.

Dr. Julie Bailey has been named medical director at VCA Northboro Animal Hospital as Dr. Kathy Scandura steps down after more than 25 years in the position, the hospital announced Wednesday. Scandura will remain at the hospital and continue seeing patients two days a week.

Bailey joined the Northborough team in fall 2022 and has more than two decades of experience in veterinary medicine, hospital leadership and management. Her clinical interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry and patient pain management.

A 2002 graduate of Colorado State University, Bailey completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Miami. The hospital described her leadership style as collaborative and said she will continue supporting its staff while providing care to patients and their families.

Outside work, Bailey spends time with her three sons, three dogs and cat. She also enjoys skiing, traveling and walking her dogs.

"We’re excited for this next chapter and feel very fortunate to have both Dr. Bailey and Dr. Scandura continuing to be such important parts of the VCA Northboro family," the hospital wrote in its announcement.
