Thought and Poem – January 25, 2015
Hugs? Who doesn’t need one every now and then? Hugs have a way of locking in whatever we need for the moment that helps us to find the strength or confidence to handle whatever we are facing.
Whether we are needing a hug because we are going through a rough time in life, or whether we are excited because we succeeded in something we wished to accomplished it seems that hugs given help us to believe in better days or that they remind us that no dream is unworthy of being reached out for.
For as long as we can remember, hugs have also been a way to welcome people into our homes/lives, or to assure them that we appreciated their presence when we say “goodbye.” Hugs given at the right time can say more than words can express. Hugs have a language of their own.
There are hugs that we just stand there and let a person give us and there are those where we bear hug a person back while they are hugging us. There are hugs that comfort, and hugs that remove the hurt. There are hugs that encourage and hugs that incite bravery.
Hugs do not cost anything money-wise that is, and yet they can be worth a million dollars to the one receiving it at the time. Whether we are grieving, happy, unsure of ourselves, or just needing a friend to help us through stressful times, hugs may be all the medicine a person may need for the moment.
What about you? Have you ever received a hug at a moment when you did not think you could take on another problem or worry? If so, how did the hug help you move forward? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst
Do You Ever Feel This Way?
Do you ever feel like it’s the end of the world?
Well at least in “your” world anyway.
That nothing is going right and life is getting on your nerves?
Or perhaps this is just how life is feeling for you today?
Well, trust me when I say you are not alone,
We all experience some rough and tough times,
That so many around us tend to sigh, to moan.
Others may instead decide to shed tears when they cry.
What can I do? What do I do?
When you feel so lonely, so down?
Reach out to a friend or someone close to you,
Be thankful for their warmth and hugs when they come around.
You say you have no friends, that no one likes you?
Well that can’t be true, although it may feel this way.
There are people out there, who would show they cared,
If you were to let them know how you feel today.
Do not despair, be brave, build up your strength,
Life is worth more than you know - so boost your self-esteem.
Better days are coming some just around the bend,
Allow any hugs given to give your tomorrow another chance, as hugs make things look not as bad as they seem.
