The Northborough Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, May 15, 2015, beginning at 6:30PM with an optional pot luck supper, followed by a brief meeting then the featured program. The evening’s program is, “Early American Music” featuring the chorus “American Harmony” directed by Nym Cook.

Step back in time as the chorus “American Harmony,” dressed in period costumes, will bring our nation’s earliest choral music to life, illuminated by the commentary of conductor Nym Cooke.

The members of “American Harmony” are from western Massachusetts, and they will present the songs that stirred the soul of early America. The evening’s program will include rarely heard fuging tunes as well as some of the most popular sacred songs of the time. The singers are directed by music historian Nym Cooke, who has been leading choruses, choirs and community sings in New England for almost 30 years. He is the author of a new book coming out this year titled “American Harmony.”
