Hats, Heroism and Hospitality – First Lady Dolley Madison

The Northborough Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 7:30 pm. The evening’s program will be, “Hats, Heroism and Hospitality – First Lady Dolley Madison,” presented by Janet Parnes. Ms. Parnes will portray Dolley Madison, highlighting her life in the context of the Colonial and Federalist Eras.

Known for her graciousness, First Lady Dolley Madison tells about her ascendancy from a Quaker child to First Lady. As the fuel that powered James Madison’s political career, Dolley never forgot her humble beginnings and has been known throughout history for her graciousness and courage.

As the president/founder of Royal Tea Parties by Lady J, Janet Parnes has been entertaining audiences with her character portrayals for more than seven years. She has performed for establishments including Heritage Museum & Gardens, Fruitlands Museum, and Longfellow’s Wayside Inn, as well as women’s clubs, senior centers, and libraries.
