Grants Give Classroom Enhancements
Algonquin Regional High School is implementing two learning aids to its classrooms.

Thanks to modern technology, progressive thinking, and grants from the Southborough Education Foundation, Algonquin Regional High School will be adding two learning enhancements to their classrooms.
According to Principal Thomas Mead, who detailed this in his most recent "Principal's Report," the math department at the high school was given 16 iPads to "facilitate the implementation of the Assistments Program in the Integrated Math course." Thanks to a program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, students will now be able to use the iPads in the class to provide immediate feedback on their math problems.
And the Livescribe smartpen will become a fixture in the science department. In order to "enhance instruction and empower students," teachers can use teh smartpens and pencasts to "revolutionize classroom learning through prerecorded lectures along with in-class capture," according to Mead. Then, the lessons are linked to teachers' websites, which students can access in order to have a repeat of the instruction.
