Greater Worcester Community Foundation Now Accepting Applications for Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund Grants
The Greater Worcester Community is currently accepting applications for its Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund grants between $5,000-$25,000
(Worcester, MA February 2, 2015) The Greater Worcester Community Foundation is currently accepting grant applications for Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund Grants. Programs and projects that increase access to healthcare or health promotion services which improve the health status of vulnerable populations are eligible for consideration. All applications for grants between $5,000 and $25,000 are due by February 17 and collaborative efforts will be given higher priority.
The purpose of the Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund is to advance:
- The support or creation of primary care outreach services to vulnerable populations.
- The development of continuing managed care services rather than episodic or uncoordinated care.
- The removal of barriers that prevent people from receiving services such as lack of transportation, cultural competency of providers, language differences, or others.
- Disease prevention and health promotion programming.
- Agency Collaboration.
The Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund was established in 1996 with an endowment gift of $4 million to Greater Worcester Community Foundation. It was created as a result of the sale of Saint Vincent Hospital by the Fallon Foundation, Inc. to OrNda Healthcorp.

In 2014, GWCF granted $172,530 through this fund to Catholic Charities of Worcester, Central MA Area Health Education Center, Children’s Friend, Dismas House, Family Health Center, Genesis Club, Girl’s Inc., Pathway’s for Change, Pernet Family Health Services, Planned Parenthood League, Worcester, Rainbow Child Development, Southeast Asian Coalition, Worcester Division of Elder Affairs, YMCA of Central MA and Y.O.U., Inc.
Grants may be for operational expenditures such as personnel costs, program expenses, small equipment purchases or physical improvements.
