Thought and Poem – March 5, 2015
Some people never appreciate the art behind shopping for clothes. I mean, what we are looking for has to be the right material, color, and of course, ahem, size and then at the same time something that makes believe we look like we want to look.
Shopping can be a full time job. You have to know the right store to go to, the right time to shop and how to get the best deals for your money. Then, if we are fortunate, we will know where we can buy the pants that will come with an elastic band for those times when we gain a little weight, or when the washer and dryers shrink our clothes and they feel too tight. People can reason with you until they are “blue” in the face, but you are positive that these laundry machines are out to get you! It not like we don’t already have enough on our plates to deal with and then, the clothes don’t fit anymore and you have to go back to the store to buy more.

Now it is NOT the shopping trip that is so hard to bear, but the problems comes when your mate decides to comes with you to see what you are going to buy and how he has to come up with a way to convince you that you will look great in whatever you are going to buy to wear. You are doomed from the start before you even leave your house and you would rather be home sitting on the couch…but you do need new clothes to wear.
So tell me my dear readers, what do you call it when your clothes get too tight? What have been your strategies of getting to the store, picking out new clothes, making sure they fit and getting back home onto the couch without a panic attack? Share your thoughts with us….Jeanne Claire Probst

Have You Been There?
Ever been in one of those situations
Where you can’t win no matter what the occasion?
It is six of one and a half dozen of the other?
And who the winner is by this time…hello…does it matter?
You buy your clothes from the store with a special image in mind,
And you think, “Wow, I am going to look so great,” that the “larger” size you don’t seem to mind.
You find the item in the color you like, another miraculous surprise.
And you stand there holding your item thinking, “The size, the color and the price is right?”
Oh, my dear, please go get me another cart,
There are so many different colors that I just don’t know where to start.
And since this will take me a little while,
So I don’t watch you sighing and groaning, please stand in another aisle?
So now you are at the register with all your wonderful “into the cart-hopping deals,”
You don’t want to look at your mate, because their eyes will tell you they are not feeling the same way you feel.
Their facial looks tell you they want to hop on a train,
And get away fast before their wallet is drained.
Too late, they can’t escape; the items have been rung up,
The clerk puts them in a bag and you toss them in the car trunk.
You hope that on the way home, your excitement is not drowned out,
By the ranting and raving from your mate, to ascertain what this shopping spree was all about.
I don’t think they will ever understand what we go through to get the clothes we want or need,
And they don’t understand the rise we get when the color, size and price is right and we purchase them with glee.
You would think they would at some point get the hang of the routine of what shopping is all about
Because mostly likely, after they have been washed and dried, or the waist band gets too tight, we will just have to do this routine all over again, no doubt.
