If I had my Life to do Over Again...

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem – March 6, 2015

When someone close to us or even someone we don’t know passes on, it makes us take a moment or two to think about our own life and destiny. Either way we look at it, we at some point in our lives have to face up to the things we have done, good or bad, and we hope that we can leave when it is our time…in peace.

During these times, we may even wish if we could do so, to be able to live our lives all over again knowing what we have had to face and what became of choices we might have made and perhaps do things a little differently this next time around. Who would not want a chance to change the paths we have taken that lead to miserable aftermaths because of mistakes we have made?

I call these times, reflections that allow us new beginnings as we try to put our paths on better roads that lead to better relationships, ways, or even better understanding of ourselves that will help us to walk the rest of our journey in life on the roads that lead to the outcome we wish.

We may never be able to do our lives all over again but we can use what we have learned from our yesterdays to search our hearts and allow the guidance of what is inside to shower each day on those nearest to us and let them know that we will do all we can to be what we were meant to be for them.

If I had my Life to do over Again…

If I had my life to do over again

I would not know where to begin

As my life has been such a mess from the start

But somehow I have gotten through the living part.

I guess I would want to give a little more than I have given so far

And I would hope I would do better and to do more from my heart

Because we can all use a cheerful day

As it helps us get through each day in a more dignified way.

We may not have chosen some of the things we did

Whether seeing them as bad or splendid

But each of us will have to own up for what we have done

From the moment we take in air until the setting of our last sight of the sun.

So if I had my life to do over again

I would do like to relive

All the good I have done for my family

That a good name would follow after me.
