Thought and Poem – February 5, 2015
It is the time of the year again when the red hearts show up everywhere you look. Hearts filled with candy, hearts on mugs with “Kisses” inside them, hearts of greeting cards and store window display almost anything that will lure someone’s heart to another.
People tend to get in these routines and they let society dictate when they are to show their love for someone special. If love is to endure all things, then love should be an everyday thing. Yes?

Okay, we all love to receive gifts, and special treats from someone who is showing us how much we mean to them. Granted I have received a few of these gifts too in my lifetime. But I would rather never to receive a card or flower, if the person who wanted to give these to me gave of themselves by the way they treated me, by the things they do for me and the things they said to me; everyday things. These things mean something to me and they are “priceless.”
Advertisements don’t help when it comes to promoting the real reasons people want to be loved and how they really want it to be shown to them. Yeah, I have fallen for a few of these gimmicks myself. But I have learned over the years and experiences can make a person wiser and I am quick to turn my heads when these gimmicks show up on the department store shelves.

What about you? If you took away this one day a year to shower the person you love with gifts and trinkets, how would you want others to show their love to you? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst
Love Only One Day a Year?
It is that time of the year again, where people are hit with the “love” bug,
And they start thinking about the special person they so love,
That they want to send a card or flower or even plan a night out,
To express on one day a year, this person they can’t live without!
Really, just one day a year,
I am your special “dear?”
Give me a break,
There is more to love, love is about give and take!
To me, love is an everyday expression we should want to show,
And let those we love know,
That to us they mean so much,
That we can’t let them know we love them enough.
So skip the flowers, the card and even the meal,
One day a year, is not a big deal,
I want you to show me you care for me every day, by the things you do and say,
Then I won’t need anything else as I will have you and I will know you will want to be with me always.
