National Coming Out Day: Stay Tuned for Series on GSA
Oct. 11 is National Coming Out Day. Northborough Patch plans a short series of articles focusing on the Gay Straight Alliance at Algonquin Regional High School.

As explained on about.com, "National Coming Out Day was founded by Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary on Oct. 11, 1988 in celebration of the second gay march in Washington D.C. a year earlier. The purpose of the march and of National Coming Out Day is to promote government and public awareness of gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender rights and to celebrate homosexuality."
Northborough Patch recently spent some time at Algonquin Regional High School with the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), an organization that has been established for more than 20 years there. Stay tuned for a series that focuses on this evolving group that includes straight, gay and bisexual students who want to promote tolerance and acceptance.
