Open Eyes of Life Helps Transform Lives
Cris Hitterman, an intuitive healer, works with people from all walks of life.
Sometimes we all need to tap into someone else’s bright light to help us through the darkness. We need a hand to hold, someone offering a map – or someone to help us draw our own map. Cris Hitterman, owner of Open Eyes of Life at The Wellness Center on South Street, can be that person for you.
Hitterman beams with a positive outlook, her kindness evident in her calm manner and compassionate perspective. In her work as a medical intuitive healer and transformational life coach, she believes herself an “instrument of spirit” and as such, she believes that a “true advocate helps one get out of a funk, not deeper in it. Learning balance in life is essential."
She believes, “healthy mind, healthy body."

Working with clients as a life coach, Hitterman helps people define what they need to live the life of their dreams, often telling her clients to be “self-full, not selfish." She provides encouragement and guidance to people struggling to find their place in life and who “may have forgotten who they are." She says its her outlook that we are “all angels with a broken wing."
Hitterman believes an important principle in learning one’s self worth is to believe that “someone else’s opinion of you is none of your business," a difficult lesson, however once learned can set a person free to find value in themselves.

Combining life coaching with the ancient art of toe reading helps her clients identify core insecurities and release anchors that no longer serve them in their lives. Cris says the “toes are a reflection of the path you walk – a report card from spirit."
A wide range of people from all walks of life represent Cris’ clientele. The vast majority of them are over 40 - she has however read the toes of people as young as infants - and her oldest or “most mature” client is a 98-year-old female.
As a medical intuitive and healer, Hitterman believes that pain and physical sickness offer one an emotional message. For example, Hitterman says liver sickness is often a sign of unexpressed anger, gallbladder issues often the result of unexpressed frustration and lower back pain can signify a person’s struggles with guilt or financial worry.
She subscribes to the beliefs of Louise Hay, American author of the book You Can Heal Your Life as well as the theories held by Caroline Myss, intuitive medical healer and author of books Why People Don’t Heal and How They Can, Anatomy of the Spirit and Sacred Contracts.
Following her graduation from Casa Grande High School in Skydive Arizona and an unhappy stint as a coffee shop owner in Arizona, Hitterman began her study of Metaphysical Science, earning a Ph.D from University of Metaphysical Sciences/Ayurveda Healing Arts Institute of Arcata, California, and a degree in Transformational Psychology from South West Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe Arizona. Hitterman has also studied in China with a Shaman learning and practicing various Eastern philosophy healing arts.
Intuitive energy healing is based on the channeling of life energy that is the ‘life force’ in all of us. This channeling is most commonly found in practices such as Reiki (RayKi), acupuncture, acupressure and chi kung (pronounced chi gung). Life energy is called various names; some of these names include chi, the life force, vital energy, universal energy, ki and universal force.
In addition to transformational life coaching and toe reading Hitterman offers Reiki and La Ho Chi, hands on therapies during which hands are placed on or slightly above the body and manipulate life energy promoting healing and support into the body to help in its natural healing process.
Reflexology is also offered at Open Eyes of Life. This healing art is based on the belief that there are reflexes in the body primarily in the feet but also in the hands and ears that make up ‘zones’ representing each and every part or organ of the body. By applying pressure with the bare hands, without the aid of tools, lotions or creams, this practice is said to relieve tension, help circulation and regain health and function to the corresponding body part represented in the "zone" through manipulating a person’s chi, or life energy.
Hitterman also offers hypnotherapy and detoxification foot baths a natural method used to remove toxins from the body and help aid in bodily aches and pains.
Although her work is helping others transform their lives, Hitterman has transformed her own self, by accomplishing the seemingly impossible feat of losing over 240 pounds in the last two years by following a regimen of natural energy methods, good eating and healthy exercise including yoga, Tai Chi and Chi Gung.
She has twice been named a finalist to be a contestant on the television series "The Biggest Loser."
Embarking on this journey of personal improvement with amazing results shows that Cris Hitterman not only “talks the talk, but walks the walk” and this speaks to the integrity of her practice.
