Sea Dog Steak and Ale House Headed to Northborough

Sea Dog set to open in the middle of the summer in Northborough.

Moving into the former site of Lazio's Restaurant at 318 Main St., Sea Dog Steak and Ale House is targeting a mid-June opening date. It will be the third Sea Dog restaurant in Massachusetts (there is one in Woburn and another in Hull). There are also three Sea Dog restaurants in Maine, but owned by a different franchise group.

"The ball is moving quickly, and we have everything in line that should be," said Peter Ferrari, general manager. The primary owners of the Northborough Sea Dog Steak and Ale House are Peter Lucido and Michael Crowe.

Unlike the Woburn and Hull restaurants, Northborough's will be "more geared toward a steakhouse rather than a brew pub." The restaurant will, however, still feature a full selection of Sea Dog brews, which are shipped from the brewery located in Maine, as well as domestics.

"It's just going to be an upscale version of the pub," Ferrari said. "I would call it steakhouse menu that is fairly priced, and the highest quality steaks you can have. It will target families and we welcome children and the whole nine yards. We will cater to lunch meetings, and companies."

Originally from Framingham, Ferrari now lives in Hudson, and said Northborough was an easy choice for the next Sea Dog location in the state.

"The location speaks for itself," said Ferrari. "It’ll be right before the Marlborough line, and we like that Northborough is a residential area. For our dining area we want to target families. A lot of steakhouses push away from the kids, We welcome them."

Scheduled to start the build-out this week, Ferrari said though minimal renovations will have to be done to the location, it will be converted to give it that Sea Dog look.
