Thought and Poem – March 2, 2015
We have all seen pictures of “Footprints in the Sand,” taken along the shoreline of a beach somewhere. We have seen where people try to walk in the footprints of the one who left them there. I have done this and it is not as easy as people think. So why do people think that if they can’t manage to copy the footprints that they could live someone else’s life better for them?
I have found myself at different points in my life saying that “if” I were in that person’s shoes…this is what I would have done, would have done differently, or maybe I would have taken a different path. Talk can be big but putting the words into action can be a little more difficult. So why do we not have more compassion for one another? Why do we expect from others what we can’t accomplish?

When I was a little younger, I often went in my parent’s closet and played with their shoes. My mother always had a couple of fancy high heeled/pointed toe shoes and I often wonder how she squished her big toes into such a small space. My dad’s shoes/boots were almost always too heavy for me to wear and this made trying to walk in them clumsier. Whether wearing my mother’s shoes or my father’s shoes, it was impossible for me to wear them as they would have worn them as they were not in my size, color or the type of shoe I would wear. After a while, I just stopped playing with their shoes altogether as I had enough trouble walking in the shoes I had on my own two feet!
What about you? Have you ever found yourself thinking you could accomplish something better if you wore a different pair of shoes…perhaps a pair belonging to someone else? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Shoes
Are you wearing the shoes you were meant to wear?
If not, your life may not be going anywhere.
Or at least not in the direction you think you should go.
Could be your shoes are too big; only the person wearing them would know.
Sometimes we feel that we have nothing for which to live,
But life is not about what it can give us, but what we can give.
Still we tend to want more than what we should have,
Then when reality hits, these weren’t the shoes we were meant to wear, it leaves us feeling sad.
And then there are those who think their shoes did enough walking,
They feel any new life journeys still left are not worth taking,
Then perhaps their shoes need to be polished and shined, or maybe re-soled,
So these will feel like they have a new pair of shoes and begin to think, they could possibly reach newer goals.
