Thought and Poem – March 10, 2015
I have been pretty much housebound for the past several weeks. Other than to go to the doctor and get more medicine, I have not even gotten up to look out the windows of my house. And like many people during these past few weeks, we have gotten our share of snowflakes and our yards appear like white mountains only a few feet from our front doors. Add to this…freezing temperatures during the day and night and well just as it wasn’t a pretty sight in the house…and outside did not look any better.
But today, there seemed to be a break in the weather. The sun was shining, the white mountains appear to be somewhat more like white hills and the temperatures were inviting. The snow sparkled in the sunshine, puddles were forming from the melting snow in the streets and living became a little more inviting.

In just a few short weeks, we will have entered our spring season and what is there not to like about this? To be able to open our windows and let the fresh air remove the stale germy air left over from the winter months, to be able to shut down the heat in our homes and to be energized by what we see changing before our very eyes and want to join in the celebration by being outside where a rebirth is taking place. I am excited.
What about you? Can you feel it? Can you feel the spring season inviting us to celebrate with her? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Springtime...
Spring is just around the corner; a few more weeks to go,
I am anxious to plant my garden, and spend the summer watching it grow.
There is nothing like this great feeling I get, when working with my hands,
While I plant seeds of various kinds, into the holes I dug for them, on my small plot of land.
But gardens are not the only thing that I need to do come spring,
I also have a yearly routine called “spring cleaning.”
I open the blinds and then I wash the windows, inside and out,
And getting rid of winter’s cobwebs is another thing, springtime is all about.
But if you are an outdoor person and prefer to go fishing instead,
You will need to start by digging for worms that might be living, in the flower bed.
Then after you pack yourself a lunch and bring something to eat,
You can enjoy fishing by a brook or a woodland stream.
No matter what I look forward to or what you like to do,
Springtime has a way of rejuvenating you.
With the house clean, the garden planted, and the fish cooking on the grill,
You can kick back and relax and you plan more exciting springtime thrills!
