Superintendent Sticks to His Nonsmoking Principles
Dr. Charles Gobron stomped out his last butt 25 years ago, and hasn't picked up a cigarette since.

Now here's someone who truly stuck with a resolution.
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Charles Gobron, celebrated this weekend with his wife. It's been 25 years since he's picked up a cigarette.
"I gave up smoking for good on Jan. 7, 1987," said Gorbon, "and have not had a single cigarette since that day. It was very difficult because smoking was accepted so easily years ago; in fact, people thought nothing of smoking during school committee meetings. There was even a smoking area for students at Β Thanks goodness we are so much more enlightened now."

More than 40 years ago, Gobron had quit for three years, realizing that a single cigarette led back to smoking a pack within a week. He says he has no conscious desire to smoke ever again.
I guess as a reformed smoker, I am a bit too judgmental," said Gobron. "I hate to be hypocritical, but it really bothers me to see young people start a habit that has so little benefit and has deadly ramifications for themselves and others."
