Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

Superintendent Charles Gobron sent a notice reminding everyone that tonight, Saturday, March 26, marks the celebration of Earth Hour 2011. That means that at 8:30 p.m., everyone is supposed to click their lights off for an hour. Save energy and celebrate Earth. We're assuming that hospitals won't participate in this ritual, and it might be tough if you're working on a puzzle or sewing project, but if you can manage, it is a nice exercise. As Gobron wrote, "We invite you to be part of this international effort to show a commitment to a greener and brighter future. Switch your lights off for one hour."
