Thought and Poem – November 19, 2014
I have a question for my readers. Am I the only one that wishes they could hibernate during some of the long cold winter months? Like bears do most of the winter? If it were possible, I would be first in line to trade places with a bear! How about you?
I can do what they do during their long winter sleep period…wake up every now and then and sniff the air, maybe have a small nibble or two, perhaps check up on the rest of the family and then do what they do best…go back to sleep. Easy to do…and…without having to follow a “How to be a Bear” book!

Yeah…yeah…I know “Reality Check!” I am human and not a bear so I have to face the facts and deal with the cold weather that is here to stay for the season that comes after fall…WINTER! Sure there are good things to look forward to in the wintertime. Good things like the pretty snow-white landscape and enjoying the beauty as nature clothes her trees with the new snow? And of course who doesn’t like to see the icicles forming from the eaves outside our windows…unless they are trapping us like prisoners in our homes. And for all the skiers, skaters, and those who like to go sledding or snowboarding when weather conditions allow us to enjoy these sports while our body temperatures stay just above our own freezing limits (thanks to all those down-filled winter clothing on the market today). Yes these are nice, but can’t I just look at pictures of winter scenes in a book and just listen when others tell of their outside winter experiences? Wouldn’t I still get the same awesome reactions while staying warm…inside my home?
What about you? Are you inclined to wish you could sleep the cold winter months away, or are you one of the few out there who wish that winter could stay all year round? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

It is cold…
Brrr…believe me when I say it is cold out there…
Makes me wish that during the winter months I could hibernate like bears…
Wait…I can…in emotions anyway.
So heads up people….when I am cold…you best be staying out of my way!
When it is cold…
I want to be left alone…
To cuddle wherever I can get warm and cozy…
Where from all my aches and pains I must go until I can find relief.
My bones say, “HELLO”…
My nose…I have to constantly blow…
My toes and fingers need extra heat…
My body…well…I like it under the warm covers while I try to sleep.
I want to sleep until the warm weather comes back;
Until the springtime…as a matter of fact,
So please don’t disturb me when it is cold outside…
I am unbearable to live with when my teardrops freeze when I cry!
