Thought and Poem

I am a Princess!

Thought and Poem – August 10, 2014

As many know, I have trouble sleeping. In fact, the word sleep is not in my vocabulary as it is not a common practice of mine. I don’t know why it is this way, but sleep and I; well we parted a few years back, twelve years ago to be exact.

With this being said, any sleep I have been privilege to get over the years has been most welcomed. My routine is that I sleep two hours and wake up again….do a few things…then try sleeping again…so on and so forth. But when I wake up because of a dream, this can be pretty scary. Most of my dreams are somewhat like my life! Now that is a nightmare!

I don’t often remember my nighttime dreams unless they are the kind that I continue even after I open my eyes. I don’t like this type of dream as it leave me emotionally drained. It takes too long for me to separate the dream from reality.

Why can’t I be like most people who dream they are somewhere peaceful and pleasant, have the experience of their life, all the trimmings that go with it and then the money it takes to get there? Now would be a dream worth sleeping for. I guess I might never know, because I would have to be sleeping to find out.

I am a Princess!

During the night I dreamt I was a princess,

I thought I was having a nightmare; the idea I couldn’t digest.

I woke myself up because I refused to engage myself in the dream for another minute;

I thought I WAS already a princess before I fell asleep, so I needed to evaluate this?

I had to splash cold water on my face,

As I couldn’t wake up enough to come around to accepting this fate,

Of how I had gotten demoted so I had to get back to sleep right away to reclaim my title in my dream?

Wait a minute maybe it wasn’t the nightmare I thought it had seemed.

I considered myself a princess for quite some time,

And many have treated me as such so I thought I was a royalty of some kind,

But if I am going to reclaim the princess title in my dream, than we need to change a few things;

And If I am going to dream, I think it is about time I became a QUEEN!
