Waking Up In A Fog

Thought and Poem – August 14, 2014

It is one of those days. I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night. I don’t normally get a lot of sleep on a good night, but last night I got even less than normal. This does not make for a pleasant morning! Alert! Beware! If you are thinking of it (anything) don’t you dare! The look on my face is warning enough to encourage a person, dog or cat to give me some space.

Now I don’t often wake up in a bad mood. I am just saying I am not fit to be around anyone just yet. My eyes are drooping, my feet are shuffling and my mind is doing…nothing! Add to all this, the fact that it is RAINING!

Rain in itself is not a bad thing. We need the rain. The problem is when it is raining, I do not get to work out in my garden. Now that is not the worse that can happen to a person nowadays but…the garden is where I get revitalized and have my “good” spirit renewed so that I can function the rest of the day in peace.

Going to “Plan B,” I head to the kitchen after turning the key to my “broom” on to let it run…in case needed. I scrounge around in the refrigerator for something that will boost my energy level. Not much. I ate the rest of the ice cream and cake last night, someone beat me to the last of the donuts, the stash of candy bars behind the wine bottles disappeared and I am all out of Oreo cookies! Do I have a “Plan C?”

Waking Up In a Fog

Sometimes you have to walk the bases because you don’t have the energy to run,

Zapped of energy before your day has even begun,

You didn’t get enough sleep as sleep did not come your way,

And you know in your heart…it is going to be a long day.

So, you tell yourself, snap out of this mess

And you look for ways that can suggest

That a better day ahead can be met

If a positive attitude you sow in searching out your quest.

So you grab a cup of coffee

Or perhaps some tea,

Maybe make some breakfast to eat

But you still are dragging your feet.

You decide in the best interest for all that you will go back to bed,

Until the sleep fog has lifted from your head.

You put your “broom” by the bedroom door and turn the “do not disturb” sign for all to see,

That all will let you get that extra sleep and then life could continue to move on peacefully.
