Sadness

Thought – July 30, 2014

More and more people are becoming overwhelmed because of trials that continue to pile up around them. Seems to me anyway, that these piles of ours get higher and higher with each day that goes by. There are days when it feels as if there will be no blue skies overhead. Sadness/depression from time to time may rule in our households or even in our own hearts.

With problems multiplying for just about everyone these days, we need to reach out to help one another, especially when we know of someone that is feeling sad and is bowing low because of the weight they are carrying on their shoulders. Since there was a reason why humans were made with “two” ears, we need to take the time to listen to each other so that we can send sadness somewhere else or if need be, so that we can carry some of the weight on our own shoulders to help relieve someone of their burden.

Ask yourself, ”How long does it take to write a cheerful note, make a phone call, send an email, or make a small cake to let anyone who needs a pick-me-upper know that you care about them?” Most cakes I make only take 30 minutes to cook. As I gift them to others, it seems the joy is two fold as most times I get to have a slice of that cake while we smile from across the table lending our hearts and ears to each other. As I leave their homes, I know that for even a few moments they were feeling loved and cared for. It is a good feeling.

What about you? When you look around at the members of your family, or even your friends and other members of your community, is there something you can do to lift the spirits of someone you know that may be feeling sad or depressed today? And if so, how will you go about showing them that you care? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Sadness

For many, feeling sad has taken the joy out of their life,

As trials and woes, weigh heavy on their shoulders and they can’t find the strength to fight.

Sadness from time to time has certainly has found its way into my home,

But I try to sweep the effects out of my soul so that in my home, sadness will not roam.

If you can, talk to someone about how you feel,

Pour out your soul, how you feel to others is a big deal.

If no one is around, tilt your head back and look upward,

Lift your face toward the sky while you talk, so that your words will be heard.

Be assured there are many around you, who care,

And even more so when they are aware,

That you are not having a good day,

And they have heard that sadness has found its way into your home today.

Let us know if there is something we can do,

That can relieve this sadness, as we would like to help you.

You can have my arms to hold you as I wait,

To see your sadness move away and a smile appears on your face.
