Thought and Poem – August 26, 2014
Have you ever wished you could have a “do-over?” Whether to live your life all over again, do better in the way you treated others, or to have the opportunity to improve on personal relationships you might have with someone? I know I have often wished for many second chances to improve in all the above.
There are some things that we can have a second chance at, like bettering our relationships with others, to try harder to be a better person, but when it comes to living our life all over again…well…not happening.
The best thing that we can do today is to live for the moment each day and do the best we can. We all make mistakes, but we should learn from our mistakes so that we don’t keep repeating the actions that make us wish for “do-overs.” True, it is easier said than done. I am proof of the fact that hard work is necessary. When you think about it, the hard work that often needs to be done in a second chance, or a do-over, is really the things we need to change about ourselves. Am I right?

Could our lives run a little smoother, if we took the time to think before we spoke, or before we acted out inappropriately? Such a little thing it is to change…to train ourselves to “think.” I am not going to wait too long for my miracle as I know it will never just appear, do-over or not. So I better just give up dreaming and do the work. This will make my life easier.
What about you? Are you still waiting for a do-over or are you working? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

A Do-Over!
If you had a chance to have a “do over,” a second chance,
When it comes to living your life again,
Would you grab for the chance or would
You see it as not worth doing, not worth trying?
I would hope that I could give my life another chance;
I didn’t do too good…and it might not have gone as planned.
I made too many mistakes to think I lived my life the best I could have lived,
I am sure I have hurt people, and there were those who hurt me; some I couldn’t forgive.
But, we all know a “do over” is not realistic to think one will come our way,
So it is best that we live the life we have before us today.
If you have made bad choices that you can fix and make right,
Do so as it might put your life today in a different light.
Be more loving than you were yesterday,
Be kinder to people who come your way,
Be honest with your feelings and what you want out of life; your dreams,
Then you will see the difference little changes can make, you won’t need a do-over as your life today will not be as bad as it seems.
