Did you ever meet a stranger, whether in line in a store or anywhere you have been and just know that there is something special about them? Strangers are all around us in fact, they are everywhere. Then when eye contact has been made, and a conversation has been started, at times you can feel that “something special” beginning to grow and you suddenly realize you have made a new… friend.

There are many people that I never would have met, if I had not been brave enough to take the first step to reach out to them when they were strangers to me. This includes people I have met on Facebook from all around the world.

I am well known for being able to strike up a conversation with just about anyone I see or meet. For the most part, I am happy that this comes easy for me. There is so much more in life for me to learn about and to experience. Since I do not like to travel outside the general radius of my hometown area, I personally would never be able to have these experiences myself so I am excited to be able to reap the blessing as experiences are exposed to me by someone I may have met that have become my friends..

However, I am very careful and don’t automatically open up to everyone I meet. Still I find that taking personal interest in others and being a good listener are amazing tools that can turn a stranger into a friend.

Friend?

A friend is always there,

They don’t care what you look like or how you do your hair,

They know the real you is inside you somewhere.

They smell the scent of the roses you describe,

They can read in between the lines,

When you have secrets you are trying to hide.

Friends will stick by your side no matter what,

When things get rough,

When what is happening around you is complicated and enduring is tough.

A friend will never leave you and forever by your side they want to stay,

They check on you and think of you in their everyday,

And they will bring you a smile on your gloomy days.

So if you have a friend, and I am sure you do,

Let them know how much they mean to you.

Tell them about all the joys you shared together and how they helped you.

But if you are looking for a special friend,

Don’t forget to look among the strangers you see when you are out running errands; shopping,

Because there are friends out there for you if you take the first steps to let it happen.
