Thought and Poem – August 31, 2014
As we navigate our way through life, we may come across people who think we should do or can do more than we are doing. Have you met a few of these people along your “roads?” If so, you probably have had to jump a few hurdles and roadblocks from time to time.
Often, it may take just one thoughtless remark, to slow us down on our journey, because these thoughts have got us thinking our own thoughts... and then we are set back by doubt. We play the remark over and over in our minds and hearts for however long we do, and it seems these thoughts kill any desire we might have had to continue to try to reach the highest potential we can in life.
This is especially true, if we are facing limitations because of disabling physical conditions or illnesses. Neither one of these factors, are any reason for us to forget who we are and, what we want to accomplish, and they should never keep us from fulfilling our lifelong dreams.

A good lesson to learn for those of us who like to formulate our own opinions on what others can do, is that it might help if we remembered to stop judging one another. To keep ourselves from reaching our own conclusion as to what we think another person can do or should do…is we might do our own “thinking” in silence and then keep any private thoughts we have to ourselves. Especially, if we have not walked in someone else’s shoes, been there done that…and got the T-shirt!
What about you? What helps you to keep from letting other people’s thoughts prevent you from traveling your own roads in life and at your own speed? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Have You Walked In My Shoes?
If you have not walked in my shoes,
Don’t put me down when I complain, when I am down, or when I cry the blues.
And don’t tell me to “get over it” and to tell you something “new.”
What I go through I would never wish on anyone else.
I wouldn’t know how to take care of you as I have a hard time taking care of myself.
I would not stifle you when you talk and I would do all I could to help.
But, you are not me and I am not you.
And I am not accountable for all the things you say and do.
Please don’t judge me for my weaknesses and I won’t judge you.
We both have to live together in this world either way.
And no matter which way our lives are hurled we both have to face each day.
We each have to do what we can to get through this life but please don’t complain if you don’t understand me as you have not
walked in my shoes today.
