Thought and Poem

It is NOT a Secret...

Thought and Poem – September 6, 2014

Ahem…a moment of truth. Did you know I was not perfect? Did you know I had my own closet full of faults? Did you know I may stumble and fall at times? Did you know I was human? For many this might be hard to believe but the last time I had my blood drawn…I had red blood. Proof!

Now why am I focusing on the fact that I am not “perfect?” Because if I am not perfect, than I know you are not perfect either. Knowing this fact can go a long way in helping us be a little more understanding when we disappoint ourselves, or when others disappoint us. Although being “imperfect” does not give us freedom from consequences when we make mistakes. Unfortunately consequences are the price we pay for choices we make and not all of the choices we make can we blame on being imperfect.

For instance….we know when we overdue ourselves and tax our bodies beyond the point of no return. We know when we have that extra serving on our plate that our bodies will have to store somewhere on our hips. We know when we lie; no matter what color we call them. We know when we think things that we must NEVER tell anyone. We don’t know that we forget to do things we should…because…well…we forgot. We just know we do these things and these engrave in our minds and hearts that we are IMPERFECT.

So if you remember this about me and I about you…we can be always be honest with each other and be forgiving when we err. (No I didn’t do anything that I am hiding…at least not today…just saying).

What about you? Do you think recognizing our imperfection helps in the long run when we err? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

It is NOT a Secret…

Did you know I was not perfect?

As my faults suggest?

But that doesn’t stop me from being who I am…

It just makes me have to stop in my tracks every now and then.

If I stumble when I should stand tall,

Well…it was one of those times…I couldn’t win them all.

If I speak before I took the time to think and my words seem a little not so nice,

Well…I can’t take the words back but before I speak the next time…I might want to think twice.

If I should forget something I had promised to do,

Well…when I come around to remembering what I ought to have done, I will try to make it up to you.

If I should fail to show appreciation for what I have been given,

Well…I hope you will bring it to my attention…and that I might be forgiven.

I am not perfect and I don’t pretend to be,

I am who I am but I am trying to improve “me.”

I just need a little more time to get things straight,

And I hope I can perfect everything I must…before it is too late.
