Thought and Poem – September 15, 2014
People all around us are keeping busy doing their daily routines and maybe some extra “things.” Some of these “things” might be what you would like to do too. “Things” like learning to ride a bicycle, climbing a mountain, getting a college degree, painting, writing, photography, playing a musical instrument and more. Yet, for some reason or reasons, some hold back from reaching out to explore some of these same “things” that might be a goal we wish we could accomplish. These types of people tend to think their wishes rather than accomplishing them. With that being said, when they hear that someone else has done a good job at something, or achieved success in their lives, many become jealous.
I heard of an achievement that was accomplished by someone I knew and a few of the other people around me took the joy I had for this person away because of their rude remarks. I don’t have room in my heart for people like these, unless they are willing to see the good reaching goals can do for all of us. Is it really wrong to work hard to do better than you did yesterday? Or wrong to dream of a solution and give it your best to make it work? I don’t think so.
What about you? When someone you know achieves a goal…are you happy? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

Jealousy
Jealousy is like a disease,
And has no cure that I can see,

Unless the person is willing to change,
Their jealousy will drive them insane.
Why can’t we just be happy when someone else succeeds?
And be happy that they share their joy with you and me?
It is silly to go off and be insulting and put the achievers down,
It takes away a chance for a smile and makes us miserable somehow.
No one is better than the next person on this earth,
But our ways and thinking may differ…not meant to hurt.
So instead of being jealous that someone reaches their goal,
Why not be happy and commend them a hundredfold?
Jealous people may end up lonely,
Wasting their energies on anger that their own goals they never achieve,
So please, look beyond what you didn’t see,
A lesson you can learn from someone else, and then you too may possibly also succeed.
