Trial Starts for Man Accused of Raping 12-Year-Old Northborough Girl

The jury selection began and the trial begins this week for Angel Ortiz, 31, of Chelsea, who is accused of raping a girl from Northborough in 2009, reported the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

The charges, which are child rape, child rape aggravated by age difference, indecent assault and battery on a child and child enticement, stem from a sting case that allegedly found that Ortiz had met the victim online, met with her in person, lied about his age, and engaged in sexual relations with her. The Telegram reported that in July of 2009, Ortiz met with her in Northborough, where the victim snuck out of her house at 3 a.m.

Ortiz was indicted on charges in December of 2011.
