Tryouts Underway for Northborough Youth Soccer League

Tryouts are underway for the league, and that includes tonight.

For children ages 5-17 who live in Northborough, the Northborough Youth Soccer League is run by volunteers to "create a fun environment for children to advance soccer skills and teach life lessons of teamwork and determination."

Registration is presently open for the 2011 fall league, and that includes tryouts on Wednesday, May 10, at Ellsworth McAfee Field on Route 135 in Northborough.

Here are the details on Wednesday's tryouts:

1. U12 Girls - Check in at 4 p.m. with tryouts starting around 4:30 p.m.

2. U12 Boys - Check in is at 5:30 p.m. with tryouts starting around 6 p.m.

3. Tryouts run about 75 minutes from when they start.

4. Weather tonight is cooler than yesterday so be prepared.

5. ALL players need to bring his or her own ball (size 4) and water.

6. Players MUST be registered in order to try out. If a player is not registered when the rankings are finally compiled they become ineligible for selection to a team.

7. Fields are open. The forecast calls fro some potential light showers. Tryouts will occur in the rain so long as player safety is not an issue.
