We Are All Stars...

Thought and Poem

Thought and Poem - December 12, 2014

We live in a world where people like to compete against one another. We compete so that we can show we are better than one another. It doesn’t matter at all what we are vying for; baseball’s pennant, football’s super bowl, to be the captain of a team or wanting to win a spelling bee, competing gets our motivating juices going. We want to be No. 1!

Right from a very early age in life, we are taught to go out there and WIN! For some, they forget to have fun when competing, and they forget that we might be part of a “team.” When we chase after the No. 1 spot, we may forget that others are working with us to get us to where we want to go. They put an “I” in team and leave out the “we.”

Instead of teaching early on that we need to be the No. 1 star of something, we need to teach that we are ALL stars. How differently others will see us or how much we will shine will depend on how much light we give off when we around others. People will remember those who are kind, and those who are not out just for their own good, but for the good of others too.

What about you? Are you a “star” shining among the “stars” around you? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst

We Are All Stars

No one should need another person to bring out who they are
All of us have our special gifts that make us a star.
When people don’t value what we have to offer
Even though it might be hard to go at it alone, moving on sometimes might be better.

Even plants need team work to survive,
Water, soil, seeds and people like you and I,
Who enjoy their colors, their scents and see their beauty in our eyes.
It is the same with people who we chose to be around, these too should see our beauty, and that we are valuable in their lives.

So don’t fret when you can’t help some to see
The person you have grown to be.
Make the choice as it is yours alone
To decide how you value yourself and let your attitude about how you feel set your life’s tone.

You never have to settle for less
Than what you might feel is the best
Put out your colors and set your inner strengths free for all to see
And continue to love yourself for the person you have come to be.
