Thought and Poem – December 13, 2014
How often we look for the expensive things that we can give to others that will help them to find joy. We gift them with jewels, cars (FYI – I don’t have any of these kinds of friends), vacations, meals, clothing, flowers. To gift these, we need to have money to purchase them.
Sometimes what people need to have joy is not found in a store, refrigerator, or closet, but on the end of our arms…our hands. They go with us no matter where we go, or what we do…our hands are always there.

I recently had hand surgery and I can tell you that my doctor had the most healing hands I have ever felt. His hands although firm, were soft. They were gentle and soothing. And his hands he offered to comfort me. I left his office with good feelings; of trust and confidence because I knew he cared about my hands anyways. I could have let him hold my hands forever.
The way he handled my hands when he examined them gave me insight on how much our hands may mean to someone else. Such is what we would expect from our hands when we offer them to comfort others or to instill confidence of our love for them. Hands that are firm yet soft, will emit lasting vibes that say we will never let them go…whether or not they need us. Hands so gentle and soothing, that they allow the soul of someone who is suffering to know that they are cared for. Hands should be there to do what they do best… hold you and draw you near.

What Do Your Hands Say About You?
Hands can be warm and firm
They can be extended to offer comfort.
Hands will draw you close and allow you to be near
Hands can be used to wipe tears.
Hands can embrace,
And fears erase,
Hands can hold you when you need a friend
Do your hands say, “Come to me…on me you can depend?”
If not get out the skin softeners;
Spread it on your hands…all over.
Allow the moisture to take away dryness, cracks and pains,
And when the softeners have done its job,
Your hands will be useful again.
