Thought and Poem – January 22, 2015
You hear it all the time. “Wow, they have it made!” “They are rich, look at their house!” And after the oohs and the aahhs die down, people begin to wonder what kind of life the people in “those” houses live.
For those who do not know already, a person can own a mansion with 25 rooms or a 2 bedroom house but what makes the house a “home,” is what goes on “inside” the house. How do the members of the household feel about living in their house will depend on how they are treated inside their homes by one another?

Even houses that we would think the family members “have it made,” troubled waters can flood the basements. And houses where many family members live all squished together, they can still find the family life of their dreams.
Sometimes, you might be able to guess if the people living on your street or in your community have a happy family life. And, sometimes it begins with each of us individually to make the effort to put on “clothes” that will aid to this happiness. It takes a lot of love, kindness, respect and having an open mind to keep peace in a family so that the house that looks great or not so great can still have what is needed inside too make it a home where everyone can contribute to the oneness and experience the joys that come from being a family. Being rich or poor, doesn’t seal the front door from the drafts of the cold when families don’t work together to make their house a home.

What Kind Of Clothes Do You Wear?
What kind of clothes do you wear every day?
I hope it starts with putting on “love” as love goes a long way,
To being able to overlook any little aggravating things people do,
It takes the “hatred” out of you.
Next I put in balance and this is necessary so you don’t overdue,
And tax yourself and others when there are things you need to do.
Balance will help you keep from expecting too much,
When you are tired, sick or when your body tells you, you have had enough.
Then I try to add a little sugar and salt,
So that I am more apt to understand rather than find fault,
And on some days I add a little of the other spices too,
So I will remember to add some fun things to the list of things I have to do.
I layer these all with compassion and kindness for my fellow man,
And the words “please and thank you” as they go hand in hand.
When it comes to helping me to respect others and show them I care,
I wear these every day even if my heart they at times do tear.
My closet is full of other mixed and matched things I might choose to add,
That I may dress up all the other clothing on my back.
And then there is a mirror for me to inspect to make sure there are no tears or spots,
So that all the clothing that I wear is in good shape and then I put a “smile” on top.
