Winning With Wellness

The Rotary Club's annual health and weight loss program and competition helps open up the new year.

It doesn't matter whether you want to drop five pounds, or 50 pounds. The 's is geared toward all levels, to all those who wish to get healthier, drop some weight and win prizes.

Formerly called Nothborough's Biggest Loser, this weekly program runs from Jan. 18 to April 4 from 6:-7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at The program costs $60 per person and is open to anyone 18 and older. 

The focus will be on living a healthy lifestyle and changing habits for long term success," said Pam O'Donnell, Rotary Club member and one of the event organizers. "Maintaining a healthy weight is obviously part of living a healthy lifestyle but you will see a shift toward overall wellness in our 2012 program. Our goal is to make it easier to say good-bye to the word 'diet' and  say hello to a "new way of eating and keeping fit for life.'"

Though there is no official registration deadline, organizers urge participants to preregister, as there is a limit to the number of participants. This year, the Rotary Club is working in conjunction with to produce the program, which includes a weekly weigh-in, guest speakers, discussions and expert-led exercise sessions.

This year, child care is also being offered for children two years and older, for $5 per child per session.
