St. John School Completed Its First Immersive Education Scratch Club with Great Success

The Immersive Education (iED) Scratch Club has St. John School children in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades creating video games, interactive stories, living cartoons and animations using Scratch, a fun and easy programming tool for children created by MIT. Using Immersive Education Techniques, the students combined their programming knowledge with grade-appropriate science and math curriculum to program their own science and math video games.

The iED Scratch Club at St. John School was chosen to present and demonstrate their work at the Catholic School Foundation 23rd Annual ICSF Dinner in March. Students also had the opportunity to participate at the International Scratch Day at the MIT Media Lab on May 18th. In addition, their work was showcased at the annual iED 2013 Conference at Boston College in June.
