Wicked Good Cupcakes Expands to Boston with Kiosk in Faneuil Hall

Popular South Shore cupcake bakery Wicked Good Cupcakes® (WGC) made its Boston debut today in Faneuil Hall Marketplace after recently appearing on the popular entrepreneur hit ABC-TV show, Shark Tank. The WGC kiosk, located in the Quincy Market Building near Cheers Faneuil Hall, will offer the company’s famed Wicked Good To Go line, individual jars of moist and decadent cupcakes layered with a variety of fillings and topped with WGC’s delicious frosting. In addition, a bank of laptop computers will allow cupcake lovers to order jars and have them shipped anywhere in the United States.

“Faneuil Hall Marketplace is the epicenter for so many downtown businesses, as well as for visitors to Boston. We are thrilled to bring our popular jars to a new and wider audience” said Tracey Noonan, founder and owner of WGC. “Having this great centrally-located shop will allow our fans, both old and new, to enjoy our sweet sensations while they stroll through the Market and also to send a little bit of Boston to friends and family.”

Wicked Good Cupcakes recently introduced new flavors for those who opt for a gluten free lifestyle. The jars are prepared in a controlled environment using only gluten free baking and decorating ingredients. Gluten free flavors include Chocolate Lab, Cookies and Cream, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Coconut, Chocolate Sea Salted Caramel, Peanut Butter Surprise, Reverse Vanilla Birthday, and Reverse Chocolate Birthday. “For customers who are concerned about wheat on the premises, we are working on earning our gluten free certification and look forward to serving our celiac disease customers in the future,“ said Noonan.

Cupcake fans in Boston and beyond may already be familiar with Wicked Good To Go. They received national notoriety from an unusual source. A customer’s Red Velvet Wicked Good To Go jar raised Transportation Security Administration airport alarms because agents thought its frosting resembled potentially explosive gel. The ensuing publicity put WGC on the national map and it has remained there ever since.

“Faneuil Hall Marketplace is excited to welcome Wicked Good Cupcakes to the diverse mix of world famous food vendors in the Quincy Market Building,” said Kristin Phelan, Director of Marketing, Faneuil Hall Marketplace. “They bring a unique product and shopping experience that we are certain both our local and visiting customers will very much enjoy.”

Wicked Good Cupcakes® began when mother-daughter team Tracey Noonan and Danielle Desroches took cake-decorating classes to spend time together. After posting their work online, they found themselves being asked to create cakes for friends and family, as well as for corporate events. Drawn to the art of cupcakes, they experimented with unique flavors and designs. The popularity of their cupcakes spread and soon Wicked Good Cupcakes was born. The bakery offers a wide selection of specialized and seasonal cupcakes baked daily, and has been featured in local, regional and national media.
