Boston SafePlace: Support for Survivors of Suicide Loss

Samaritans' peer support group for those who have lost a loved one to suicide will be meeting this evening at the Samaritans office.

The Boston SafePlace group will be meeting this evening, September 22, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Samaritans office. SafePlace is an open group for people who have lost a loved one to suicide. It provides a space for survivors to connect with other survivors and offers an atmosphere of acceptance for exploring feelings that are often not understood by others. These meetings are free, on-going, and drop in – there is no registration necessary to attend. Trained volunteers and staff from Samaritans, a statewide suicide prevention organization, facilitate this group. All of the participants are survivors of a suicide loss and facilitators have lost someone to suicide as well.

The Boston SafePlace group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at the Samaritans office located at 33 West Street (4th floor), Boston, MA 02111.

Samaritans’ mission is to reduce the incidence of suicide by alleviating despair, isolation, distress and suicidal feelings among individuals in our community, 24 hours a day; to educate the public about suicide prevention; and to reduce the stigma associated with suicide. We accomplish this through services that emphasize confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate listening.
