Boston's Heart is at its Waterfront

There's a great energy coming from Boston's waterfront. Activities, exhibits, galleries, museums, dining...maybe it's why the Waterfront is transforming into a premier tourist destination.

We love our city. We love Celtics, Sox and Bruins, we love the accent, (maybe not the T), we love the Bostonian spunk and spirit. But the heart of Boston truly beats at its most treasured resource, the Harbor. It’s a basin of rebellion, a hub of industry, a home to scuttling lobsters and majestic whales. This summer, everyone is invited to the harbor to celebrate Summer on the Waterfront (SOTW), an initiative started The Boston Harbor Association, a non-profit dedicated to the harbor. Summer on the Waterfront brings together the area’s cultural institutions, galleries, concerts, outdoor restaurants, and more for a festival of entertainment options for all.

That’s great…but what does this look like? Summer on the Waterfront has encompassed events like HarborFest and ongoing exhibits at the ICA, Boston Children’s Museum, New England Aquarium, and more. "Show me the pictures, or it isn't real," right? See the end of this post!

SOTW runs June 4th through Labor Day and covers neighborhoods from the Charlestown Navy Yard to the South Boston Waterfront. Encompassing this 3 mile stretch, an interactive SCVNGR trek helps visitors explore Waterfront museums…and to help locals rediscover the places that make Boston the cultural jewel it is.
