Celtics Forward Brandon Bass Joins Sun Life and YMCA of Greater Boston Youth on the Court for Special Meet and Greet
Sun Life Financial, Boston Celtics unveiled their partnership to team up against diabetes in honor of National Diabetes Month

Celtics star forward Brandon Bass joined a lucky group of YMCA of Greater Boston youth on the court during a special pre-game meet and greet to kick off their National Diabetes Month fundraising campaign with Sun Life Financial, #SunLifeDunkForDiabetes. Bass posed for photos, signed autographs and taught the youth skills and drills before the Celtics took on the Raptors.
The Celtics players were also seen donning their official #SunLifeDunkforDiabetes shooting shirts as they warmed up before tipping off against the Toronto Raptors. As a part of the in-game experience, Sun Life was also encouraging the public to participate in their fundraising efforts by donating $1 for every Tweet, Retweet or Share using the hashtag #SunLifeDunkforDiabetes, up to a maximum of $10,000.
On November 5, Sun Life Financial unveiled a season-long diabetes prevention partnership featuring a National Diabetes Month fundraising campaign to benefit the Y of Greater Boston and the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, along with Y youth fitness initiatives to encourage young Celtics fans to incorporate more activity and nutrition into their daily routines. The partnership, a component of Sun Life’s National Diabetes Month programming, is an extension of its ongoing commitment to inform Americans about the risk factors and health consequences associated with the disease.

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a lifestyle modification program that helps people with pre-diabetes reduce their risk for Type 2 diabetes by helping them learn about and adopt healthier eating habits, increased physical activity, and other behavioral changes.
